Lumegil® 75 mg Tablets (Clopidogrel)

Lumegil

Category: CARDIOVASCULAR

Product Description

Lumegil® contains Clopidogrel 75 mg, an oral antiplatelet agent that selectively inhibits adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-induced platelet aggregation by irreversibly blocking the platelet P2Y12 receptor. This prevents platelet activation and thrombus formation, thereby reducing the risk of atherothrombotic cardiovascular events.

Lumegil® is indicated for the prevention of myocardial infarction, stroke, and other thrombotic complications in patients with established atherosclerotic disease or acute coronary syndromes. It is commonly used alone or in combination with aspirin, depending on the clinical indication.

Indications

Lumegil® is indicated for the prevention of atherothrombotic events in adults with:

  • Recent myocardial infarction (from a few days up to 35 days after the event)
  • Recent ischaemic stroke (from 7 days up to 6 months after the event)
  • Established peripheral arterial disease (PAD)
  • Acute coronary syndrome (ACS), including:
    • Unstable angina
    • Non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI)
    • ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), in combination with aspirin where indicated
  • Patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with coronary stent placement, in combination with aspirin
  • Selected patients with atrial fibrillation who are unsuitable for vitamin K antagonist therapy and have a low bleeding risk (in combination with aspirin)
  • Selected patients with high-risk transient ischaemic attack (TIA) or minor ischaemic stroke, in combination with aspirin for the recommended treatment duration.

Contraindications

Lumegil® is contraindicated in patients with:

  • Known hypersensitivity to clopidogrel or any component of the formulation.
  • Active pathological bleeding, including peptic ulcer bleeding or intracranial haemorrhage.
  • Severe hepatic impairment associated with an increased risk of bleeding.

Use with caution in patients with an increased risk of bleeding, recent surgery or trauma, bleeding disorders, or those receiving anticoagulants or other antiplatelet medicines.

Dosage and Administration

Lumegil® should be taken orally once daily, with or without food.

Adults

Secondary Prevention of Atherothrombotic Events

  • 75 mg once daily following the recommended loading dose, in combination with aspirin for the prescribed duration.

High-Risk TIA or Minor Ischaemic Stroke

  • Initial 300 mg loading dose, followed by 75 mg once daily in combination with aspirin for 21 days, then continue with single antiplatelet therapy as clinically indicated.
